Thank you for considering volunteering. There are
many valuable ways you can help the families that stay with us. You
can volunteer once or once a week, and you can do it on your own or
with a group. Below are some ideas or you can contact our Director
of Volunteer Services.
GOT A LITTLE TIME?
These projects can be done in an afternoon...
Meals
Our families spend long days at the hospital, and have little energy
to make dinner when they return to the House at night. Almost every
night, our families enjoy home cooked, nourishing meals. Groups or
individuals volunteer to prepare dinner or lunch for them. Meals may
be cooked at the House or prepared at the volunteer's home and transported.
Meals should feed 25-30 people. If you would like schedule a meal,
please contact us at AbbyB@rmhwinstonsalem.org
or (336)723-0228 x11
Snacks
Volunteers are welcome to make trail mix, bake cookies or prepare other snacks for guests to eat on the go.

Toiletries
Since many of our guests leave their homes suddenly, they may not have all the personal care items they need when they arrive. Small sizes of toothpaste, soap, deodorant and other products are helpful.
Goody Bags
To help with long days at the hospital, volunteers design arts and
crafts packets complete with supplies for various age levels and interests.

with this kind of project.
Pop Tabs and Pennies
Unfortunately, we don't have the space needed for the pop tab collection project, but if you already have tabs, American Legion Post #55 will be glad to recycle them for you and give our House the proceeds. They are located at 111 Miller St., Winston-Salem and their phone number is (336) 724-0660.
Instead of starting a pop tab program, we would like
to suggest a penny drive campaign. Click below for more information:

Spring Fling
Once a year we clean the House from top to bottom! No shelf goes uncleaned
and no dust bunny escapes. We supply breakfast, lunch, cleaning supplies,
and a good feeling- all you have to do is show up and lend a hand!
Your help ensures that we have a clean, comfortable place for families
to rest. This year Spring Fling will be held on a Saturday in March.
If you or your group would like to participate, please email us at
AbbyB@rmhwinstonsalem.org.
Luminary
Luminary volunteers help us assemble kits, deliver them to retail locations, and serve as street or neighborhood captains, collecting luminary orders for their neighbors.

Sport A Shirt, Share A Night
Join individuals and groups across the state to support the Ronald
McDonald Houses of North Carolina by purchasing a t-shirt for $10.00
and wearing it on April 24, 2009. Click
for more information about how your organization or place of business
can get involved.

Family Room volunteers extend the services offered at the House to
all families with children Brenner Children’s Hospital at Wake
Forest University Baptist Medical Center and in the Sara Lee Center
for Women's Health at Forsyth Medical Center. Volunteers greet guests,
assist with check ins and keep the kitchen stocked with food. Volunteers

Teen Program
A 'Teen With Heart' is a high school student (age 15 - 18) who pledges to make a difference, by volunteering during the summer at the Ronald McDonald House. Teens work in our offices, help with household tasks, deliver supplies the Family Room, and do a million other things to help keep the House running during the busy summer months.
Family Friend
Family Friends help the Family Assistance Coordinator by making visits to our guest families at the hospital, organizing the Family Resource Library, and participating in other administrative tasks.
Pet Therapy
Our guests break into wide smiles when our pet therapy volunteers
and their dogs arrive at the House. These specially trained dogs and
their handlers visit once a week to help families relax and take a
break from the stress of the hospital. If you and your dog are interested
in completing Therapy Dog International certification and becoming
part of our pet therapy team, please contact our Director
of Volunteer Services for more information.
